Bonnybridge & Surrounding Areas
Bonnybridge and the surrounding areas have proved to be an increasingly popular place to live. Bonnybridge itself is a well established village with a few miles of open countryside separating it from nearby Falkirk.
Situated on the A803, the Falkirk to Glasgow road, Bonnybridge has both a rural and industrial heritage. The local river, the Bonny Water passes just north and west of the centre of Bonnybridge and the Forth and Clyde canal, now restored and reopened at the Millennium, lies a short walk to the south of Bonnybridge centre. This canal bought prosperity, employment and people to the area which further grew when the railway arrived later. Although the railway has long gone, the canal thrives and forms part of the many pleasant walks in the area.
To the south of Bonnybridge lies High Bonnybridge with Greenhill to the south-west, Camelon and the Falkirk Wheel to the east after a gap of open countryside, Larbert to the north (again after a gap of open countryside), Head of Muir and Denny to the north west, and Dennyloanhead, Longcroft, Haggs and Banknock to the west.
Bonnybridge has a very wide variety of properties available from the older traditional ones right through to the newly built. Almost everyone should find something to suit their tastes and budget. Despite its central position and easy access to the transport links to east, west and north, yet property prices here still remain affordable and excellent value for money. Steady development continues in response to the ongoing demand but quite a lot is ‘ribbon’ developments along the main routes. This means that you are never far from open countryside and greenery. The area is also served by a collection of well spoken of primary schools which are located in the residential areas.
The centre of Bonnybridge proves to be a welcoming place which continues to see something of a revival with even the old Coop building being reopened and populated with new businesses. The centre tends to have at least one of the each major element such as a bank, chemist, dentist, Post Office, supermarket, butcher, electrical shop, computer shop, library, sports centre, accountants, gift shop and lighting specialist, garage and tyre fitters, hairdressers and a host of fast food outlets and hostelries. And of course, an established quality estate agent - Kelvin Valley Properties!
